Mac to a USB serial device

The below is a simple guide to get your mac connect to a USB serial device, maybe a USB-RS232 or USB-TTL.

1) Open your terminal window

2) using the below command to list all tty devices that is recognised by your mac

 ls /dev/tty.*


Shiki-mbp-:~ shiki$ ls /dev/tty.*

/dev/tty.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/tty.Shiki-WirelessiAP



Example above is the output from my MBP.

3) using a screen application to talk your devices

 screen  /dev/tty.usbserial 115200

Example above assuming the baud rate is 115200, hence you can specify your for own need such as 9600,19200,115200,etc.
